Uncovering the Coast’s tattoo culture

Tattoos are hard to avoid on the Sunshine Coast. The Sunshine Coast is home to at least 27 tattoo parlours and home to many tattoo artists and enthusiasts. Tattoos used to
be somewhat of a taboo, only criminals and bikies had tattoos.

These days tattoos have become very popular and a large portion of the Sunshine Coast has some sort of ink on their skin. To gain an insight into the tattoo industry reporter Stuart Thompson talked with Sam Arrowsmith, Tattoo artist at Foundry Tattoos Mooloolaba and Tanja Mcillian a local artist and tattoo enthusiast.
