Lions Clubs across the Sunshine Coast are celebrating 100 years of community service this month.
Mooloolaba Lions Club President Kerry Naumann said the club runs local activities to raise money and give to local charities and initiatives.
“At the moment we are working with the Sunshine Coast Council to find a den [home for the club], but progress has been slow,” he says.
As part of the centennial celebrations, Lions Club Australia-wide launched the Community 100 Program, donating more than $100,000 to local projects.
Lions Clubs assist local communities through programs such as:
- Youth programs
- Medical research
- Health related activities
- Assistance to people with disabilities
- Response to emergencies or disasters.
The Sunshine Coast has clubs at Mooloolaba, Buderim, Mudjimba, Coolum Beach, Peregian Beach, Palmwoods and Noosa Heads.
