A man looking to fight people at Ocean Street took over an hour to admit to police his real name, Maroochydore Magistrates Court was told.
Ross Mervyn Thomas Walter was partying at Sol Bar before becoming aggressive towards patrons at a taxi rank at 12:10am on July 19.
The court was told witnesses reported him to nearby police officers, who found the 25-year-old was heavily intoxicated.
Walter tried to fight police and continued to give them a fake name.
He was arrested and taken to Maroochydore watchhouse and took over an hour to admit who he was.
The Palmview resident pleaded guilty on Wednesday to both public nuisance and disobeying requirements of police.
He said he has no memory of the night.
The concreter was found guilty of an assault charge three years ago and Magistrate Rod Madsen said he should have learnt from his previous community service.
“Alcohol is no excuse, but it does put it into context,” he said.
Walter was fined $1400 and a conviction was recorded.
