Roberts says a big part of his job this season is to rebuild the depth in the senior team.

“Now we’ve got 11 boys injured and one with suspension [for round three],” he says.

“So one, we’re going to try and field a team for next week and the other trying to get the boys fit.”

He says the club has been very accommodating and welcoming and he is enjoying his new role.

“It’s a ball; the boys welcomed me nicely,” he says.

“You know we’ve hit it hard training wise and they’ve adapted and welcomed me massively.”

Roberts admits dealing with media is challenging.

“It’s a new thing for me, the media” he says.

“Obviously being Welsh not a lot of people understand what I’m saying, so I’m working on it.”
